Private instruction for piano and theory is offered either in the teacher’s studio or in the convenience of the student’s home. An entry interview is scheduled for each prospective student prior to making a commitment and can be held in the studio or in the home. This meeting gives the teacher the opportunity to properly assess the student before mapping out the best course of study to ensure the student enjoys learning the piano.

For transfer students, it is important that the teacher hear the student play and review any examination and/or festival results so any gaps in the training may be identified up front and properly addressed in the course of study.

Most importantly, as it can take up to one year for a student to adjust to a new teacher, the interview process gives both teacher and student the chance to assess each other to ensure the teacher/student relationship will be a good fit and thus long-term.
