Piano Narrations

Piano Narrations was founded in 2003 to provide a unique and fun performance vehicle whereby students could gain confidence, experience and self-esteem through participation in a piano production on the concert stage.
The successful production, The Nutcracker, by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky was performed at the Horizons on Bloor on December 14, 2003 and then in The Grand Lobby of The McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg, Ontario on December 21, 2003.

The story of The Nutcracker was told through narration, pictures and music. Two students with musical theatre background shared the task of providing the narration. Corresponding pictures were projected on a large screen above the grand piano via a powerpoint presentation. Finally, and most importantly, piano students provided the music in both solo and duet format. The entire cast was made up of 12 children, from 7 to 14 years of age.
Other productions that have been worked on include "Charlie Brown's Christmas", "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" and "The Muppet Christmas Carol". The teacher's ultimate goal is to produce "The Sound of Music".
