Community Christmas Carol Sing-Alongs

Each year students look forward to this special community Christmas offering which has become a tradition for many years now. Students select and prepare both a sacred and a secular carol and must audition each prior to being chosen to participate in the event.

This Christmas venue introduces students to the art of accompanying. It gives each student the opportunity to gain experience in leading a sing-along. With their fellow students encircling the piano and joining in with the singing, each student accompanies the audience comprised of community members and family as they sing along to their favourite Christmas carols.

This performance opportunity also serves as a wonderful introduction to the stage for a beginner or junior student. No student is ever alone and feels the support of the other students who are there with them on the stage as they play. But most importantly, students get a taste of ensemble work with many progressing on from this event to playing with other instruments and accompanying school choirs.

The concert also features a few select students who are invited to perform either a solo or duet. Only music appropriate to the festive season is performed.
