Sofia Belikova (7)
Sofia received the 2018 award for her outstanding progress over the course of year. For her age, she possesses a remarkably disciplined and consistent work ethic. Homework has always been well done enabling her to progress very quickly. Since receiving this award, Sofia has added a First Prize win (91%) in the Toronto Kiwanis Festival to her accomplishments!

Hannah Dobai-Wu (8)
Hannah, the 2016 recipient, has consistently exhibited a very strong work ethic and has taken an unusual initiative in the learning process extraordinary for someone so young. She was also awarded an “Outstanding Performance” scholarship at her first ORMTA recital.

2015
Jonah Rakoff (17)
Jonah Rakoff, has exhibited an extraordinary consistency in his work ethic and performed with “commendable focus” and “much conscientious preparation” as noted by both adjudicator and examiner in his First Class Honours performances. (Since receiving the 2015 “Student-of-the-Year” award, Jonah obtained a First Class Honours with Distinction mark of 100% on his Advanced Rudiments examination.)

Gillian Nestor (9)
Gillian was selected for the 2014 Award not only for her numerous accomplishments throughout the year but for her disciplined work ethic and for making great strides in overcoming the tendency to get upset if things are not perfect every time.

2013
Belle Sager (10)
Belle was given the 2013 Award based on consistent hard work and remarkable improvement throughout the year. She overcame her rhythm challenges bringing her playing to a new level.

Luke Jagielski (age 12)
Luke was selected for the 2012 Award based on his consistent discipline. He was always prepared for his lessons having practiced and written assignments done. He has made excellent progress with no parental involvement in the learning.

Tiffany Chan (age 10)
Tiffany was selected for the 2010 award having exhibited a remarkable discipline throughout the year despite her young age, for her outstanding achievements and for being awarded two scholarships; one in the Peel Music Festival, and the other in the ORMTA Spring Recital.

Elisabeth Loserro (age 11)
Elizabeth was selected for the 2009 Award based on her hard work and determination despite a debilitating disease. She consistently challenged herself, often with music above her level, and was always successful!

Leah Gibbons (age 11)
Leah was selected for the 2008 Award having made excellent progress this year and for her achievements.

Halle Manangan (age 13)
Halle was selected for the 2007 Award based on her hard work throughout the year and for achieving First Class Honours with Distinction on her first RCM piano examination.

Samuel Vandaiyar (age 13)
Samuel was selected for the 2005 Award solely for his progress over the year. As a transfer student he has had to work extra hard to overcome some bad habits and fill in some gaps in his training.

Carly McDougald (age 11)
Carly was selected for the 2004 Award having overcome her fear to do an RCM examination (she obtained a First Class Honours mark), her many other achievements throughout the year and for her discipline and hard work.

Elliot Cheng (age 12)
Elliot was selected for the 2003 Award based on his excellent progress throughout the year and for his courage and determination to play in the Kiwanis Music Festival despite being sick (vomiting) right up until the class. (He played well and obtained a First Class Honours mark!)
